Good luck to Torquay in the semi final after winning the penaty shootout following a 2 2 draw after normal time. A great game from two competitive and well matched teams. After a cagey start for the first 10 minutes, North Somerset enjoyed the greater possession and territory and it was no surprise when they took the lead. A clever pass inside from Mitch Osmond to Archie Heal wide right who checked inside and his left foot shot was saved by the keeper but Jack Thorne was in the right place for a tap in. It was great to watch some great passing combinations by North Somerset and equally the way Torquay kept their shape and defended solidly was also impressive.
The second half was similar to the first with North Somerset having more of the ball and looking more likley to score a second and Torquay looking to counter when they had a chance. Against the run of play Torquay found themselves 2.1 up with both goals being tucked away clinically by Olaf Koszela. Firstly Olaf was first to react to a half cleared corner but the second was a well worked team goal. Torquay countered quickly and there was some great hold up play by two Torquay players before Olaf received the ball on the overlap inside the Somerset penalty area and slotted past the keeper.
Somerset didnt panic and continued to play their passing and possession based game with patience and after a few near misses, Ethan Feltham equalised with 5 minutes to go with a rasping shot which James Weeks did well in goal to get his hands to it.
With no extra time, the game went straight to penaties and James Week in goal made two good saves to see Torquay though to the semi finals. Well done to all players for an entertaining game and good luck to Torquay in the next round.
