Today Oakwood Wolves welcomed Dartford PA to Test Park for the second of the JPL Cup fixtures. The game started with Dartford having a good chance to score and if it wasn’t for Oakwood’s Goalkeeper Finley Totten making a good save, they would have opened the scoring. Oakwood settled after this early scare and had the majority of the possession in the first half. Bobby Gorman, George Day and Joe Ryan, all had half chances to score. Even with all these chances the score remained 0-0 at half time.
The second half started with Lewis Puleo have 2 good chances, but being denied by the Dartford goalkeeper on both occasions. Oakwood made a change to the forward line in the second half and Jamie Arnold was causing all types of trouble with his strong and powerful running. An early shot From Jamie Arnold was also well saved by the Dartford keeper. In the 6th minute of the second half, the deadlock was broken. A cornier from the left was not cleared by Dartford and the resulting goal line scramble saw Lewis Colvin fire home from close range. The lead did not last too long. A great cross from the left to the back post saw Dartford equalise with a header. In the 9th minute a long ball from the Dartford defenders saw their attacker round the Oakwood keeper and a penalty was awarded. 2-1 Dartford. That lead only lasted 1 minute. A similar goal to Oakwood’s first. A corner from the left and once again Lewis Colvin popped up to stab the ball home. Oakwood then took control of the game and the 15th minute Jamie Arnold powered through the Dartford defence to drill his shot into the corner. Then with only 10 minutes remaining a corner from the left was handled by a Dartford player and a penalty was awarded. Lewis Colvin was not going to let this chance of getting a Hat-trick pass him by. Calmly side footed into the corner of the goal. The final score was Oakwood 4 Dartford 2. A great contest, by two very good teams.
Oakwood wish Dartford PA all the best for the coming season
