WBA Glos welcomed Hereford to Winchcombe School in game 2 of the cup format.
A fairly even, closely contested game which was yet another great advert for the type of football the Junior Premier League is known for, saw WBA Glos finish as 2-1 winners.
Both teams started the game brightly and with a good tempo. Hereford forced a great save from Oscar Hartland in the WBA goal from a superbly struck long range effort. Hereford eventually took the lead in the first half, capitalising on sloppy possession from WBA in the centre of the pitch in their own half. The ball eventually finding the roof of the net following some persistence from Cameron Davies following good play in the wide right area from Hereford. Hereford continued to find success in the wide areas in one v one situations against their WBA counterparts but WBA continued to defend well both individually and as a team.
The second half started much like the first, both teams continuing to play football but increasing the tempo and the quality as the game went on. WBA found the equaliser midway through the second half following some good hold up play and great work rate from Zach Kear to somehow find a ball through to Chinonso Oguike, who found himself one on one with Herefords GK, finishing well into the bottom right corner.
Both teams continued to create and probe each defense but WBA scored what eventually turned out to be the winner. More great work from the front players saw Oguike win the ball back and find Finley Wagstaff in front of goal who had time to control the ball and finish.
Many thanks to the Hereford players, coaches and parents for traveling down to us today. Players, coaches and parents displayed a great attitude towards the game and we look forward to future games between the two. Good luck for the rest of the season.
