NS welcomed Saints Southwest to Nailsea on a blustery morning.
Saints started the first half brighter and quickly took advantage of their early dominance to take a rapid 2-0 lead. First on 8 minutes Saints countered NS quickly and with NS reluctant to challenge the ball made its way from the right over to Acey Mead and from the edge of the box smashed home a half volley across the keeper. The 2nd came on 22 mins when again Saints countered quickly and caught NS napping with Ollie Reason firing home from 20 yards out to give the visitors a deserved lead. In between and up to the break, NS huffed and puffed without creating any clear-cut chances and Saints had some more spells in front of goal without really testing Tommy Skidmore. 2-0 HT
NS came out in the 2nd half more vibrant and energetic and early on it was clear they sensed a way back into the game playing some high tempo football and with a quick tinker with the shape, deservedly found a way back into the game when Right-back Carter Bailey smashed home after a goalmouth scramble. NS took this in their stride and created some more half decent chances however they could not capitalise and the visitors' defence held strong. He hosts we're hit with the ultimate sucker punch on 60 mins when Saints won the ball high up the pitch and after some neat interchange Sam Hodges finished despite the best efforts of Skidmore. Saints completed the scoring when Mead again traveled down the left unchallenged before striking high into the top corner from a tight angle.
The score line harsh on NS but Saints rewarded for their dominant first half exciting play. All the best to them for the rest of the season.
