South Glous welcomed Yate for a local derby on a dark and dreary winters morning. Both teams started well but struggled with the pitch conditions as the ball skipped very fast off the wet surface. SG took the lead through James Curry after a rare mistake between yates defence and GK. Yate responded immediately, this time it was SG turn to make an unfortunate error which Yate capitalized on. Yate started to take control and made there dominance pay with three more goals from before the half time whistle. Yates Goal scorers were James Whiting, Rueben Rule, Harley Prior, Curtis Dunn.
SG went further behind in the second half through a stunning free-kick scored by Harley Prior. SG were 5-1 down but to there credit they did not give up, Jake Woodman started to press quicker and was making good forward passing to Jamie Knight Label and yate were finding it difficult to deal with, the continued pressure paid off and SG grabbed back 3 late goals all scored by Jamie Knight Label. Unfortunately for SG it was a bit late and Yate held on for the win which in my opinion they deserved. There was some confusion at the end as to weather the score was 6-4 or 5-4 so I have had to go with the score the ref had but if this is not correct I do apologise to Yate and especially to the boy who did not get awarded a goal.
In bad conditions it was a great game and was nice to see both teams trying to play football from the back.
I wish Yate all the best for the rest of the season
