Match Report

It was a cold morning at the GFA, both teams looked lively especially Torquay after making the long journey!

The 1st half was action packed and provided the fans with great entertainment. Although there were no airplane throwing from the stands!!

Within the first 5 minutes there was great run from Oli Thomas through the final third to slot past the keeper for 1-0.

Soon after there was a good header from Kacey Pike and a great save from Torquay keeper. Followed by a corner and great delivery from Rudy Hill to be put in the back of the net by Oliver Thomas for the second of the game.

Torquay remained confident with controlled passing and good battling to win the ball.

They managed to make a great tackle in the midfield and attack well in the final third although unable to beat Dan Mabe in the SG defence with brilliant strength and skill at the back.

Rudy Hill was unlucky not to score when he picked up the ball on the right side and managed to strike the ball and hit the crossbar.

Two more goals followed by Kacey Pike and Rudy Hill put SG 4-0 up before the half time whistle.

The second half did not disappoint and soon after the whistle there was another well connected shot on the edge of the box by Luke Roberts for another goal.

It was soon 6-0 when Oliver Thomas played a great ball over the top to Kacey Pike who put Jacob Stevens through on goal followed by a calm finish.

Torquay still managed to play great controlled football especially at the back.

7-0 came when Kacey Pike put pressure on to the Torquay keeper to tap the ball into the back of the net.

Torquay had a great spell with 3 different attacks and came close to scoring with a well hit free kick on its way to the top corner before Goal Keeper Vinnie made a great save.

2 more goals followed by Kacey Pike and Alfie Stewart for SG to make it 9-0.

Torquay stayed positive and was able to break through to the SG defence with a great finish by Sean Brown to make it 9-1

Good Luck for the season to Torquay & hope you have a safe journey home.
