Birmingham St Georges (BSG) welcomed Worcester City (WC) to Q3 Academy on a wet Saturday morning, The pitch was heavy and cut up really badly throughout the game making the game difficult to play for both teams.
The first period was relatively even, however on two occasions BSG lost concentration on their formation which resulted in 2 goals for WC. The second period witnessed BSG keep a disciplined shape and limited WC to a few half chances. At half time the score remained 2-0.
The 3rd quarter saw an unfortunate own goal from a BSG player trying to clear a header from a corner. WC went on to score a further 2 goals to make the score 5-0.
Unfortunately BSG suffered a couple of injuries which resulted in the team having to play the last 20 minutes with 10 players. This and the fact that the team had only 1 substitute all game and a heavy pitch resulted in BSG succumbing to a further 6 goals in the last quarter. The heavy defeat wasn't necessarily a true reflection on the effort put in by the BSG players. WC however did deserve the victory as they moved the ball around the pitch well and looked threatening when they came forward.
BSG wish WC good luck in their remaining fixtures and look forward to playing them in the return fixture.
