The first half started well with Hereford able to play out from the back and cause Forest Green several problems, with Forest Green always looking to counter quickly. Although both teams exchanged opportunities, nether were able to break the deadlock.
As the start of the second quarter, a quick ball over the top of Hereford's two centre halves caused them problems, with Sam Marson running clear to finish. An excellent strike into the top corner. Hereford caused themselves problems straight from kick off, playing all the way back to the goalkeeper, eventually conceding a corner. William Montague was able to crash in a header at the front post to out the visitors 2-0 up. Hereford again had chances and soon won a penalty, with George Jones fouled off a corner. Tom Burton was able to step up and dispatch the penalty, meaning the score was 2-1 to Forest Green at half time.
In the third quarter again Hereford pushed forwards looking for a goal. Tom Hamilton was able to race clear for Hereford, forcing the keeper into a good save, before battling with the goalkeeper and the defenders to score the re-bound.
In the fourth quarter both teams pushed forwards looking for a goal to take the lead. That opportunity came for Forest Green when they awarded a penalty. Dylan Miles was able to step up and score to put them in front with 10 minutes to play. Both sides exchanged opportunities, but neither side could add to their tally. Final score Hereford 2-3 Forest Green.
