In an evenly contested match where the away team gave as much as they got and played some impressive football Evesham United came out as eventual winners,
The contest started evenly with both sides attempting to gain the upper hand, the away team, patient in its build up play were always probing but it was Ben Banks who broke the deadlock for the home side in the first period (1-0). Soon after the strong and powerful Jak Thomas increased the lead to 2-0 at the break.
In the second period Jak Thomas added a third to take the home team in to a 3-0 lead. With the home team well clear most teams would have lost hope but Herefordshire RTC continuing to believe in and play their passing game of football got back into the game through Fin Jones (3-1) leaving the match more evenly poised at 3-1 at the half time break.
After some end to end football where both teams had a chance to score Jak Thomas' hat trick goal made it 4-1 to the home side following some excellent work from the omnipresent Reagan Martin. However, the away team refused to be beaten and after some impressive play reduced the gap to 2 again with a goal from Jack Bevan to make it 4-2.
The home club sealed victory and eventually gained dominance with their powerful, pressing game when Jak Thomas took the opportunity to finish the resurgence with his second, four goal return of the season.
For the home side Reagan Martin must get a special mention for his tireless running and link play which was undoubtadley the difference in what in fact was an evenly contested affair for most of the game. Involved in four of the five goals Reagan produced the ultimate team performance which helped his team secure victory.
Herefordshire will leave with their tail between their legs but must be proud of the way they kept themselves in the game with their commitment to the passing game against a powerful home team performance and should take confidence from this fact alone in moving forwards. However, it was the home teams strength and powerd, led by Reagan Martin in midfield that eventually saw the home team to victory.
