Q1 – In the first quarter both teams started brightly but as the quarter progressed it was St Georges who were getting more of a hold of the game and creating goal scoring chances. The Sutton keeper had to be on his toes, pulling off a couple of good saves to keep the score at 0-0. The Sutton defence was working hard to contain the St Georges attack and it wasn’t long before St Georges took the lead late into the quarter. Sutton struggled to clear the ball away from danger, a clearance landed at the feet of a St Georges player who shot low to the left hand corner to make it 0-1. However, soon after Sutton levelled the score. St Georges conceded a corner and following a mix up in the St Georges defence Harrison Hughes poked the ball home to make it 1-1.
Q-2 – The second quarter was tightly contested with neither team creating any scoring opportunities with the quarter ending 1-1.
Q-3 – St Georges began the third quarter on the front foot and immediately started to cause problems for Sutton and it wasn’t long before St Georges increased their lead. Some neat play from the St Georges midfield put a through ball onto the St Georges left winger who crossed low into the box for the St Georges striker to slot the ball home to make it 1-2.
Q-4 - Sutton began the final quarter strongly and created a good chance to score but the St Georges keeper saved smartly. Sutton were pushing bodies forward in an attempt to get back in the game but St Georges hit Sutton on the counter attack and scored to make the score 1-3 and then soon after made it 1-4. Sutton had a good opportunity to score late in the quarter, Shakur Reid was put through by Max Turner but his shot was blazed wide.
