This morning saw Taunton Town host Saints SouthWest in a JPL league match. It started with Taunton keeping possession well for large parts of the first quarter and creating many chances. A few good saves from GK Leon Woodhead kept the game level. Just before the end of the first quarter, Harry Malcom pounced on a mistake and slotted home nicely, 1-0 Taunton.
The second quarter was much the same with Taunton doing everything but putting the ball in the back of the net. Saints were countering nicely at times and a long ball saw Luke Soanes show his pace and get knocked to the floor for the referee to give a penalty which was nicely finshed from Oliver Cleave. 1-1 half time.
The second half began with Taunton looking to regain the lead, and Ben Southward popped up to give the hosts the lead again. Saints responded quickly with a shot from near the halfway line, lobbing the Taunton keeper. 2-2. With frustration kicking in, Saints capitalised with a well worked goal down the right wing. 3-2 to the visitors.
Taunton pushing for the equaliser left them leaving gaps at the back and Saints found the back of the net to cement their lead. Final score was 4-2.
A well contested game with great passing football and first half from Taunton, some frustration kicking in nearer the end, whilst Saints finished the match very well.
