Hereford FC were the visitors to the Jubilee Stadium grounds this morning and a tight match was expected following the evenly contested game earlier in the season.
The game got off to a slowish start with no team really stamping their authority on the game. Evesham tried to impose themselves on the game but for the most part were thwarted by some good, competitive Hereford counter play which for the most part made them dangerous on the break.
After a pretty even first period Evesham broke through with about 7 minutes gone in the second half. A cross from the lively Ben Banks found Ashley Preece who calmly slotted the ball past the opposing goal keeper (1-0). The match then continued iin its original form with no team getting the better of an evenly contested affair. Both teams worked tirelessly to find the next goal but were constantly thwarted by either a poor final pass of a block by the goalkeepers who were both very impressive on the day.
It was not until the final quarter that Evesham managed to put some distance between the teams by scoring their second and final goal of the game. Ashley Preece was again the scorer as e latched on to a fine through ball to finish well into the roof of the net from the left hand side of the penalty area.
Following this, Hereford tried to push more and may have sneaked a goal back on a couple of occasions but for the endeavours of the well drilled Evesham defence and goalkeeper Harvey Groves who kept his long awaited first clean sheet in the league
All in all the away team fought and battled well all over the pitch to keep themselves in with the chance of a result but a solid defensive display and matutre performance led Evesham to the 3 points in what was an enjoyable game to watch played in the right spirit.
