After 2 postponements we eventually got our Round Two Trophy fixture with Coventry Sky Blues under way, so today we welcomed Chloe and her lads to Hereford Racecourse.
Being a cup tie there were 2 x 30minute periods which meant that both sides should have had the energy to make it a cup tie to remember however it was only Coventry that started brightly forcing errors from Hereford RTC also dominating the midfield. Hereford RTC lacked energy and started slowly allowing Coventry to go one up by breaking through centrally. Hereford RTC then went close on the counter missing a glorious opportunity to level it then Coventry broke away down the flank driving the ball across the goal for an unmarked played at the back post to slot home to make it 2-0. Once again Hereford RTC had another fantastic opportunity to level but didn’t convert the chance, also a contentious disallowed goal for offside would have given Hereford the lift they needed to get back into the game more but Coventry saw out the half comfortably forcing a couple of decent saves from Danny Moore. 2-0 half time.
Second half it was more of the same in that Coventry were relatively comfortable winning the first and often the second ball trying to use the width wherever possible, it was only on transition where Hereford RTC tried to break quickly where they were getting success and that’s how Hereford’s goal came from with Harry Tovey’s shot squeezing over the line. Coventry scored their third through Hereford RTC not clearing their lines and right the end of the game Coventry scored a forth to finish up worthy winners of this tie.
We wish Chloe and her lads the very best of luck in the next round of the trophy.
