Today's Cup fixture saw the visit of Chorley to Lavender Hall Lane. The first half started off fairly evenly with most of the early action taking place in a midfield tussle. The first clear cut chance came to Chorley when a very good through ball dissected the Barnsley defence and the Chorley striker was adjudged to have been brought down in the penalty area by a Barnsley defender, the ensuing penalty was slotted home to make the score 0-1. After this both teams continued to fashion chances on goal but neither team could score particularly as a result of some good saves being made by both goal keepers. As the second half got underway Barnsley were chasing an equaliser and they had a decent spell of pressure but again could not score. As Chorley started to exert some pressure of their own they took the next chance that they created when another neat through ball put the Chorley striker through on goal and slotted the ball home to make the score 0-2. Towards the end of the half Barnsley created a good move down their right hand side which resulted in Elliott Strutton scoring from inside the penalty area to make the score 1-2. Barnsley used the last few minutes of the second half to try and create an equaliser but were unable to do so and the game ended 1-2. We wish Chorley good luck in the next round of the cup.
